Whistler

Summer weekend in Whistler. Most of these pics are from a fantastic hike we took to the site of an old freight train wreck. The train cars are twisted through the forest, with one literally dangling over the rushing Cheakamus River. The cars have been covered with murals and enterprising mountain bikers have created woodwork bridges and jumps that go over the train cars in some places.

The rest of the weekend was great, despite Obie & Emmet spiralling into colds and basically whining 24/7. Strolling through the Village and seeing all the mountain bikers and tourists, swimming in the pool at our (dog-friendly) hotel, checking out the sights -- we barely scratched the surface of Whistler in the summertime and will have to come back.

Orcas with Des, Joe, Peter and Whales

A gorgeous long weekend on Orcas with Obie & Emmet, plus Des, Joe & Peter. Lake swimming, paddle boating, ice cream eating, beach time having, rock throwing, s'mores making, soccer playing, plus whale watching. AND Emmet rolled over for the first time -- back to front.

This mysterious creature was glimpsed throughout the weekend. Difficult to photograph as the subject was in constant motion, we did have a number of sightings, and made periodic contact where we were engaged in primitive communication -- usually regarding the availability of s'mores. The creature was largely nude the entire weekend.
