Boulder & Vancouver

Colorado adventure for our friends Jeff & Becca's wedding. Beautiful wedding and unbelievable scenery -- the groom and I did a pre-wedding hike up the first Flatiron (pictured over my shoulder in the pic with Emmet in the carrier).

Then back home where this weekend we returned to Playland for a morning of rides with Sahana and family. Roller coasters, carousels, pirate ships, mini-donuts -- the whole deal. Emmet fell asleep in the Bjorn carrier for the first time ever.

And a pic from a sunny morning at Crab Park. The park is perched at the foot of Main Street on the water overlooking the convention center and the North Shore mountains, and we saw: seaplanes, the seabus (ferry), a tug boat and barges, cranes and containers at the port, and container ships out in the bay. Beth said it was like a Richard Scarry book come to life. Obie was in heaven.

Whistler

Summer weekend in Whistler. Most of these pics are from a fantastic hike we took to the site of an old freight train wreck. The train cars are twisted through the forest, with one literally dangling over the rushing Cheakamus River. The cars have been covered with murals and enterprising mountain bikers have created woodwork bridges and jumps that go over the train cars in some places.

The rest of the weekend was great, despite Obie & Emmet spiralling into colds and basically whining 24/7. Strolling through the Village and seeing all the mountain bikers and tourists, swimming in the pool at our (dog-friendly) hotel, checking out the sights -- we barely scratched the surface of Whistler in the summertime and will have to come back.
