Obie climbs the Chief

Obie got to play hooky today. Instead of going to school, we hiked up the Squamish Chief. This is a popular but extremely strenuous hike straight up a huge granite monolith, with great views and some mild but exciting exposure. Obie managed the steep rocky steps and staircases like a pro and scrambled up the granite like a mountain goat. He told me he was "activating bear power" when he was on all fours climbing up, and that his imaginary horse, Tapian, was following him up the trail. From his point of view, the highlight was hanging out on the summit and feeding nuts to one of the marauding chipmunks, whom he named Chippy Hackee.

Wow, great climb. Not exactly " the further the fewer" though. Love the no front teeth look!
